Software Engineer – Service Division – North Yorkshire – Permanent – £55-60k + overtime + 25 days holiday

Samuel Frank is recruiting for an OEM based in North Yorkshire as they’re looking for a Software Engineer to join their service team on a staff basis. Good knowledge of PLCs is expected; the successful Software Engineer will have likely worked for an end-user and is a strong fault-finder on PLCs and can make PLC code changes where required.

Key aspects of the Software Engineer role include –

• Need to have an appreciation of both Siemens & Rockwell PLCs (code interrogation, changes, upgrades etc.)
• Software Engineer role would be roughly 80/20 in terms of factory/office vs field service based activities – factory located in between Leeds and York
• Suit a Software Engineer working for an end user looking to get more involved with PLCs and ultimately have the opportunity to move into Engineering and learn how to program from scratch
• You’d be allocated to a Principal Engineer who would help guide and mentor
• Any knowledge of Siemens Simotion would be highly advantageous – not essential
• UK & international travel – typical trips will be 1-2 weeks in duration and a rough estimate on international trips is 3-4 times per year
• Ideally have knowledge of high speed packaging machinery
• When not working on customer sites, the successful Field Service Engineer will finish work at lunchtimes on Fridays
• Hours worked over 39 per week will be paid at x1.5 Monday to Saturday and x2.0 on Sundays
• Minimal reactive work involved – most site work is pre-planned, especially international trips
• Access to company vehicle when needed for site work (doesn’t include day to day commuting to work)
