Bid Engineer – Industrial Controls / Automation – Home Based – Permanent – £40k DOE

Samuel Frank Associates is now recruiting for a Bid Engineer to join a growing and very well-regarded system integrator based in Lancashire. The successful applicant may currently be working as a Commercial Engineer, Technical Sales Engineer or Proposals Engineer. This company are also willing to take on a person looking to move into this type of role who has a background in industrial controls.

The key requirement for the Bid Engineer role is to have some knowledge of the industrial controls sector. You’ll need to have had very basic exposure to technology such as PLCs, variable speed drives, SCADA systems, HMIs etc. so you can create tenders/quotes from specifications on small projects.

This role will report directly into the Technical Director and he’s keen to bring an enthusiastic, logical person who he can help develop and grow. If you don’t have loads of bid management experience, he can teach you.

Other key aspects of the Bid Engineer position include –

  • Ability to tender for the manufacture of control panels and associated software and control engineering content – previous experience not necessarily required – you’ll be coached, mentored and trained by the Technical Director
  • The control panels will contain variable speed drives (AC/DC), PLCs, safety controls, network switches, LV switchgear etc.
  • Attend bid meetings and propose solutions that may lower overall cost whilst still meeting the specification.
  • Capability to read and understand URS or bid specifications.
  • Capability to write a tender document in clear concise language, explaining technical solutions in good detail and clearly capturing the offered scope of supply
  • First class written and spoken English ability
  • Methodical, organised, considered approach to tendering

The client’s offices are easily commutable from most of Lancashire and are prepared to offer 100% working from home if you are within two hours of their offices.
