Controls Engineer – Warwickshire – Staff – Hybrid Working – £50-65k + package

Samuel Frank is recruiting for an experienced Controls Engineer, preferably with heavy industry experience, who has strong Siemens TIA Portal experience. The successful Controls Engineer will be responsible for the development of PLC software and the design and configuration of electrical switchgear systems for safety critical equipment.

Key aspects of the Controls Engineer role include –

  • PLC experience such as defining hardware specifications, coding, code interrogation, de-bugging and control system design
  • AutoCAD Electrical experience
  • Design and configuration of MCCs
  • Liaison with equipment manufacturer to ensure built to agreed specification
  • Any knowledge of system involving with motors, hoists and big drive systems extremely useful
  • Less than 20% site work – site work will be UK based
  • Good knowledge of safety critical systems as well as experience of working in a highly regulated industry
  • Must be able to demonstrate previous experience in working in a multi-disciplinary environment specifically:
    • Strong knowledge in designing and specifying LV & HV switchgear
    • Strong knowledge on specifying and setting up variable frequency drives (preferably ABB and/or SEW)
    • Awareness level on hydraulic systems – hydraulic electro-mechanical sensors and actuators such as proportional valves, flow and pressure meters
    • Awareness level in Siemens PLC programming – TIA Portal V17 and above
  • Lead the production of documentation through the full project lifecycle: System requirement specifications, functional design specifications, factory acceptance tests, site acceptance tests etc.
  • Experience of functional safety, hydraulics and/or industrial network architectures would be nice to have, but not essential requirements

The company is based in Warwickshire in the West Midlands and offer a hybrid working set up where the successful Controls Engineer could be office based for 3 days a week and work from home for the remaining two days.
