Controls Engineer x 2 – Worcestershire – c.£25-45k + uplift for site work + w/e overtime + annual bonus

Samuel Frank is working with a well regarded, specialist systems integrator as they require two Control Engineers with good commissioning experience to join their team.

The successful Control Engineers will have at least 2 years commercial experience and have a mixture of both PLC programming experience in any of the major vendors such as Siemens, Allen Bradley or Mitsubishi as well as some Electrical experience using EPLAN or AutoCAD. The client is open to looking at Engineers with 2 years experience right up to seasoned professionals commanding salaries at the higher end of the suggested range.

The project work coming up already has the code written and the company is looking for the new Control Engineers to commission the software on site. The three sites are based in the M4 corridor and this work will take up most of 2022. The client estimates the role will be 60-70% office based after that, in Worcester.

Key aspects of the Control Engineer positions include –

  • Site based commissioning
  • Development and commissioning of PLC and HMI software for new projects
  • Evaluation and enhancement of existing PLC and HMI systems
  • Preparation of software specifications, test procedures and manuals
  • Liaison with clients, suppliers and contractors

The business isn’t tied to one particular sector, they have delivered projects in industries such as water treatment, waste to energy, distilleries, leisure etc. as well as factory and machine automation. Basically, there’s a massive variety of projects to get stuck into.

Ideally with a Degree or HNC/HND qualification in a Control or Engineering related subject and a minimum of two years professional working experience in the field of industrial automation or machinery control systems, you will be competent in developing and commissioning PLC and HMI software and competent in reading Electrical schematics.

Self-motivation, strong communication skills and a high level of individual initiative will be required for this role. The company pay a daily uplift for site work, plus subsistence and estimate around 5 weekends per year where you’ll be required, these weekend days are paid at a daily rate.

The position is commutable from most of the West Midlands including places such as Redditch, Kidderminster, Birmingham, Cheltenham, Worcester, Leamington Spa and Hereford.
