Senior Controls Engineer – Worcestershire – Permanent – £50-55k + BUPA + up to 8% pension contribution + annual bonus – Some home working available – 25 days holiday

Samuel Frank is recruiting for a Senior Controls Engineer to lead a small team of Control Engineers for a global company with a base in Worcestershire. The successful Senior Controls Engineer will spend approximately 50% of their time working as a Controls Engineer and the rest of their time leading the team, scheduling work, problem resolution etc.

This opportunity will suit a Senior Controls Engineer looking to grow with the role and the team, it could be an ideal position for someone looking to make the step up from Controls Engineer to a hybrid role involving team leading.

Key aspects to the Senior Controls Engineer / Team Leader position include;

  • Scheduling works, planning resource allocation, problem identification and resolution
  • Liaising with suppliers on production of outsourced items such as control panels and system software.
  • First class communication skills
  • Patient and calm persona
  • Supporting other staff in the department with technical questions and challenges
  • Assist management with the development and motivation of staff in the Controls team
  • Writing Functional Design Specifications
  • Programming PLCs
  • Electrical designs using AutoCAD Electrical
  • Knowledge of HMI and SCADA software
  • System architecture experience, network connections and interfaces, primarily Ethernet, DeviceNet and Profibus
  • Experience of working on systems for special purpose machinery, knowledge of the machinery directive, machine safety etc. would be ideal
  • Knowledge of conveyors, material handling systems or packaging machinery could also work well

The company has offices all over the world and is also part of a wider, much larger global group. This opportunity will give the successful Senior Controls Engineer the chance to work on very specialist equipment and work onsite at some global household name brands. The department manager estimates a 75%/25% split between being based in the office/home (75%) and being based on customer sites (25%).

The company will have a home working policy in place beyond any COVID influence with a conservative estimate suggesting 2 days a week could be done at home every week when you’re not working on site.
