Samuel Frank Associates is recruiting for an Automation Project Manager that will be responsible for the planning, management, coordination and financial control of Automation projects.

The successful Project Manager will manage these schemes (typically £250k-£1.5m), so you will have previous experience of managing projects for automated systems including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, Ethernet networks and distributed control. You will be tasked with managing Project Engineers and internal automation staff, as well as managing system integrators throughout the project life-cycle.

We’re looking for longevity and continuity, so the client has suggested applicants who regularly move employers every 12-18 months might not be well suited.

The package is flexible so depending on the basic salary, it may include a car or car allowance for a Senior level Project Manager, if you’re applying at the lower end of the salary scale, there may be overtime on top for example. It’s open to discussion.

Essential skills required for the Project Manager role;

  • Qualification in an Engineering discipline.
  • Proven track record of having lead and successfully executed automation projects.
  • Extensive experience of project delivery though the application of a comprehensive project management process.
  • Proficiency in managing and reporting on projects utilising information technology (MS Project/Excel).
  • Good communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Possess problem-solving and customer-oriented attitudes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills

Desirable skills that could be useful;

  • Degree in Engineering discipline
  • Recognised H&S qualification; ideally NEBOSH Certificate.
  • Experience in commissioning and qualification activities.
  • Knowledge of process safety management.
  • Strong presentation skills: is comfortable presenting information to others at varying organisational levels.

The role is commutable from the following places – Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley, Doncaster, Chesterfield and Worksop.
